Details about this class

I'm honored that you're checking out Philosophy courses and hope you'll decide to take the next step and register! For more about me and how I approach teaching and learning with you, please visit my PCC web page. You can also check my which includes general information about my courses and policies. I update it each term, so some of it will be specific to the current academic term but many details will stay the same across terms.

  • I use labor-based grading in my courses, which means that the grade you earn is up to you and the amount of work you decide to complete (there's a section on this in the sample syllabus below). While there are requirements and standards for your work, if you meet them then your work receives credit. There are due date requirements, but partial credit is available for assignments submitted past the due date.

  • For more on labor-based grading (sometimes also called contract grading), check out .

For a general idea of our course, please have a look at section of this course. Some details will change prior to Winter '27, but this should give you a sense of my approach to assignments, attendance, and other course policies.

Our readings will be a mix of work from the required textbook, plus podcasts and other articles.

Please reach out if you have any questions!
