Newberg Center grand opening this Saturday, Oct. 22

Its here the Newberg Center, that is! After years of planning, discussion and community outreach efforts, 做厙TVs newest and greenest center opened its doors to students this past September. And this month,those doors will open to a wider audience.
PCC invites the community at large to celebrate thegrand opening of the PCC Newberg Center (135 WerthBlvd., off 99W, near Brutscher St. and Fernwood Rd.) from 3-6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22, (the program begins at 4 p.m.)
- Free admission.
- Barbecue buffet.
- Live music by Gil Reynolds and Deep Blue.
- Fun activities for the whole family.
- Demonstrations of the building’s sustainable features.
The Newberg Center is one of the first projects stemming from passage of the colleges $374 million bond measure in November 2008. Its location in Newberg in the heart of fertile wine country that constitutes Oregons Chehalem Valley was chosen by PCCs Board of Directors because of the communitys ongoing population growth. Its launch coincides with theyear-long celebration ofthe college’s 50th anniversary throughout the district.

“Its interesting to see the new and the old coming together simultaneously . . .the birth of something so remarkable and special like PCC Newberg being celebrated at the same time were taking stock of the colleges 50 years of accomplishments throughout the Portland metro area, said Linda Gerber, president of the colleges Sylvania Campus.
We have literally built a solid foundation here, given all the care and precision that has gone into the planning of this facility and our integration in the community, said Gerber. With that as our springboard, I have no doubt that together well achieve major milestones in the next 50 years, right here in Newberg.
