Planning with the Community

Throughout this summer, PCC staff have been meeting with the and participating in 47 one-on-one conversations and one focus group with 68 individuals who currently live, work, own a business or property and/or manage an organization, faith-based group or educational institution in the neighborhoods surrounding Cascade Campus to learn about泭 their history, experiences, concerns and泭 hopes for the neighborhood and PCC Cascade. The conversations provided a perfect opportunity to have community members review the colleges recently drafted 泭Cascade Community Vision Document, a document that will become a foundation of the Master Planning and new building design work. The interviews are also helping the college to form the bones of a new community Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC). 泭Community stakeholders have been generous with their time and insightful and candid about their visions for their communitys future.
PCC will compile this collective history of community perceptions, experiences and expectations regarding the community, PCC and Cascade Campus to create a Community Assessment. The Cascade design team will use this assessment and the Campuss Community Vision to guide the development of the Campus Master Plan. The assessment will also guide PCC in developing strategies and tools to engage the diversity of neighborhood stakeholders in the planning process and expand PCCs community partnerships.
